Reflection: Helping Community at City – United Way

Helping community is such a huge part of our values here at City Uniforms and Linen. Which is why this holiday season we’re reflecting on the impact we were able to make by partnering with the United Way of Hancock County.  United Way supports 150 programs and services impacting the areas of health, education and financial stability in Hancock County. To learn more about United Way and how you can make an impact, visit their website.

In November, we were able to put together events for our employees to team build, and encourage donations toward the United Way. Because of the support from our community and our employees, we raised $12,734.78 for the United Way! We’re so thankful to make an impact like this in our community and we hope that in years coming we can do more and more! Keep reading to see how we achieved these results.

Spirit Week and Events

We kicked off our United Way fundraiser with a spirit week and other of fun activities.

Spirit Week Themes

  • Monday: Costume Contest
  • Tuesday: Favorite Sports Team
  • Wednesday: Pajama Day
  • Thursday: Favorite Color
  • Friday: Favorite Holiday

To help raise money, we had a costume contest on Halloween, where the flock of flamingoes took home the prize. On Tuesday, we had a Napkin Derby, where managers competed to feed the most napkins. Employees placed bets on who they thought were going to win. Our production supervisor, James, was crowned napkin champion. On Thursday, we had a chili cook off where Travis, one of our CSR’s, spicy chili won. (And don’t worry no prize chili’s were dropped in the process).

City Fest

On Saturday, November 5th, City hosted our first ever Fall Fest. Where all the proceeds went to the United Way. We had food catered by one of our own employees, games, a silent auction, and a raffle. It was open to employees and family. Everyone had a blast and through ticket sales and our silent auction we raised over $800!

Huge thanks to our donors: Findlay Brewing Company, Biggby Coffee, Pieology, Hurdwell, Wolfe’s, A1 Tent Rentals, Texas Roadhouse, Fort Findlay, Heavenly Pizza, and all our employees who helped contribute to make this event memorable and impactful!

We love being able to make an impact in our community and hope to grow events and efforts like this in the future!
